MARTIN LUTHER KING COMMUNITY BREAKFAST

LOCATION: Chenery Middle School Cafeteria, 95 Washington Street, Belmont

TIME: Registration at 8:30 am, breakfast at 8:45. Program 9:00 to 11:00 am.

ADMISSION: $5 per person   $10 per family

PLEASE NOTE: With the Wellington move taking place, this year we will hold the breakfast at the Chenery Middle School cafeteria. Please note this change in location.


Supervised activities (with Mr. S.) for children 6 to 11; childcare for under 5 by the Belmontian Club. This event will have sign language interpreters.

Guest speaker: Prof. Peniel Joseph

Peniel Joseph is a leading authority on African-American history, and professor at Tufts University. During the 2008 election, he was a frequent guest commentator on PBS, connecting events of the present to their historical context.

Please join us on Monday morning, January 18, for a thought-provoking discussion about our perceptions and misperceptions of the the civil rights and black power movements: how they are rooted in the past, and reflect today on the present and future of our society.

All proceeds go to the After School Transportation Fund, which provides transportation for Boston students who participate in after school activities.
