Belmont Against Racism Annual Meeting
Tuesday, June 15 at 7:00 pm
Assembly Room, Belmont Public Library

Join members of Belmont Against Racism in an exploration of issues of race as seen in two remarkable films. Excerpts from "Race, The Power of an Illusion", produced by California Newsreel, and "Mirrors of Privilege: Making Whiteness Visible", produced and directed by Shakti Butler, will be shown with a discussion to follow.

These films explore how concepts of race have justified social inequalities even though there is no genetic basis for race. Both are compelling explorations of American social and cultural history through interviews and personal stories.

The event takes place Tuesday, June 15th at the Belmont Public Library Assembly Room, 336 Concord Avenue. Light refreshments will be served at 6:30 pm. The selected segments of each film and discussion begin at 7:00 pm. This is event is free and open to the public. For more information contact belmontagainstracism@gmail.com.

BAR is pleased to be a partner with the United States Census 2010, and encourages all residents of Belmont to participate in the census.
