BELMONT GAY STRAIGHT ALLIANCE COMMITTEE (BGSAC)

Concerns about the safety and well-being of our gay and lesbian students led to the establishment of the Gay Straight Alliance Committee. We are devoted to issues faced by gays and lesbians in the Belmont community. Students, teachers, parents, BAR and community members and activists attend our meetings. Since we felt that BAR had already forged the beginning of a dialogue on racial and discrimination issues in the community, the group decided to maintain an association with BAR and became Belmont Against Racismís Gay Straight Alliance Committee (BGSAC). Meetings are held monthly and are open to all interested individuals.
