About Us

Working towards a more inclusive community

Our History

Created in May 1992 after rioting scarred Los Angeles, Belmont Against Racism (BAR) is a community-action, all-volunteer organization addressing issues of racism by following the slogan:

Think globally ~ Act locally.

In its first decade, BAR focused primarily on addressing racism. In 2001, we broadened our mission to include all problems of injustice.

BAR Supports our schools by:

Raising funds for METCO student participating in after school programs.

Contributing funds for professional development for teachers and staff.
